Legal Question in Family Law in New York

My father died in 2000 with no will. Mother kept and sold all. Now I find three unclaimed money accounts in NYS for him and family corp. business. Can I claim these and keep from my mother ?

No. Money received must be divided under intestacy laws. This means 1/2 to mother and 1/2 to be divided between you and your siblings.

No, your mother has a right to her spousal share.

However, you are also entitled to a portion of the accounts.
