Legal Question in Family Law in New York

My father passed away and he left a will but my family does not know which attorney he chose to write it with. My stepmother knows but she is denying that there is such will. What can I do to track it down? Is it against the law for a will to be denied?

I would contact all prior attorneys that your father had dealings with. I would also contact the Surrogate's Court to determine if the will was previously filed.
