Does fault matter in asset division

Does it matter who is at fault when it comes to dividing assets such as property?

Is the ''at fault'' person penalized by receiving a lower percentage?

Under most circumstances fault is not an issue in equitable distribution.

If Domestic Violence is found, fault may determine "equity" in the division of assets.
