Legal Question in Family Law in New York

In February of this year I filed an order of protection against my fiance. He is diagnosed bipolar and at the time without my knowledge was off of his meds and became physically violent. In this time he has been seeking help in a long term program to stabilize on his meds again. With only one income it fored me to move out of our home and in with his parents so that we did not loose everything. His family is very supportive of both of us and understands why I had to take the order out but the problem I am having is trying to drop the order of protection so that when he is released from the hospital he can come home.I tried to ask the person that was my court advocate and anyone else I could think of but nobody wants to help me drop this order.I do understand the seriousness of the order and at that point in time it was the only option for my protection but I cannot find anyone who understands bipolar disorder and why I am now willing to drop my order. He served in the navy and has been through alot in the past several years he is a good person that needed help and is getting it for himself but he will not be able to come home when the treatment is done and that leaves him homeless with no place to go.Please help.

You need an attorney for him to advocate for his rights. You are not going to get the order amended the way you are going but it might be done with representation. You can call my office for a free consultation at 516-746-4747.
