Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I filed for divorce sometime in May, 2009. My husband signed the affidavit of defendant UD -7 form. I still have not heard back from the court.

How I can find out if I am divorced?

If you need to know right now, you can check your case online at the New York State Court System's E-Courts (Civil Supreme). If it shows as "disposed" you are most likely divorced (unless your case was dismissed for some reason.)

To be certain, go to the County Clerk's office and ask to see the file, and get a certified copy of your divorce judgment - which you'll certainly need down the road.
