Filed the Summons with Notice to begin divorce action in NYS. Received an index number and need to chnage the grounds for the divorce. Do i need to change the grounds before the defendent is served? What is the process to change the grounds?

Yes, file an Amended Summons with Notice and serve that document on your spouse.
