Legal Question in Family Law in New York

How can I find out if my brother owes any back child support? His children are grown now and my brother might owe support. My father recently passed and he is in line to receive 1/2 of an investment property. The siblings are reluctant to have him on the deed as we are unsure if the courts/his children can come back and take his support from the investment property. His ex-wife has remarried and the children have never contacted their father since the separation many years ago. We are not sure if my brother owes any support - he works "under the table" and does not file any tax papers. We would hate for his children to all of a sudden appear wanting anything.

You can have him run a credit check to determine if a judgment has been filed against him. He may also obtain the records from the local Family Court or Supreme Court to determine if an Order was filed directing him to pay child support.
