Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Trying to find my dad

Can i make my mother tell me who my father is if i take her to court? I need to know because my child has some health issues and i need to know if it came from my father's side of the family. All I want from her is his name so i can find him. If i can't take her to court is there any other way for me to make her tell me?

Re: Trying to find my dad

No. You cannot "make" your mother tell you anything.

If you are an adult, your mother has NO obligation to you whatsoever.

Neither you or the Court can demand disclosure of information from her that she chooses not to disclose. There is no basis for subjecting her, to your or the Court's authority, concerning this matter.

You might try researching your and your mother's history, neighborhood, family ties, relationships, etc., to piece together the most likely "suspects.

Good luck,
