Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Can I be forced to go back to either parent when I'm 17

My son's girlfriend lives with us under a temporary custody order, and order of protection against her mother, already an order of protection against the father is in place. They are not married and do not live together. Can the judge order her to return home if she is 17 and she doesn't want to go back to either of her parents?

You can have yourself emancipated and, therefore, not have to live with either parent.

You will have to be able to support yourself.
