Legal Question in Family Law in New York

After forty years my first girfriend and I are back together,we got married last year. She told me that we had a son,and also told my son that I was his dad.My son is 38 and his last name is West he wants to change it to Holmes my last name. We live in NY do you see any problems in us doing that? Thank you for your time
