Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I have found out doing some investigating that my husband was not divorced when we were married. His marriage was performed in NH and ours was in VT. What kind of consequenses does that pose? And legally what can I do about it?

He can be prosecuted for polygamy. There are other consequences relating to inheritance, social security benefits, and the like.

He should file for divorce.. Once that divorce is final, if you still want to be married to him, have another wedding.
