Frustrated New Spouse of a Non Custodial Parent
My husband (who is a non custodial parent) and I went to parent teachers conference for his son (who I am actively involved with to help better his education by reading with him and helping him in any way possible), it is court ordered that my husband be able to have access to all of his son's medical and educational information, his ex-wife told the school not to allow me to go into the conference, they did not allow me to join the conference, which is unfortunate because I attend these conferences to try and be more help to my stepson, because they do not want to get in a legal dispute with my husbands ex-wife. She had tried to do this at my stepson's prior school but was unsuccessful they did not see any reason why I would not be allowed to join the conference as long as it was my husbands wishes for me to be there. This is a new school and I wanted to know for sure is this something that my husbands ex-wife can legally do?, if not what do we do to educate the school in reference to this situation?

This is a difficult situation. The school wants to stay out of the conflict between your husband and his ex. The ex is clearly not a constructive person.
This question is more about personalities than about law. A court might order that you be permitted to attend the conferences, but you must understand the venom that will be directed at you by the ex in any such action. That would be a 'cost' of any action.
It might be best to engage in mediation on this and the other issues surrounding your step-son and the ex. Litigation may be the wrong tool.
