Legal Question in Family Law in New York

my girlfriend has been legally divorced for 3 years. While married she co-signed a truck loan for her husband. While legally divorced the truck was repossessed due to lack of payment. Her ex-husband suddenly passed away in august 2009. She recently recieved a letter from a collection attorney say that she owes $14,000 for the truck that no one has. Is she liable and what can she do about this?

I think she would be liable since she co-signed for the truck loan.

She must make a claim against the ex-husband's estate for indemnification on the truck loan.
