giving a child the mothers last name instead of the father
i recently gave birth to a baby girl. i live with my boyfriend for 10 yrs now, we are not married. he promised to marry me when i got pregnant and then changed his mind. we gave the baby my last name and now it bothers him and he is telling me he is taking me to court to have the name changed to his. i want the name to stay the way it is..my last name. what is the law on this?

To change a name for a minor all parties must consent. If there is no consent, the court looks to the best interest of the child.
