Legal Question in Family Law in New York
Grandparents vs found father
I'm in the process of finding out if I'm the father of a 11 yr old girl. Right now the 11 yr old girl is in the custody of her Grandmother. My question is if I'm found to be the father do the child comes to me since I've been found or do I have to file for custody.

Re: Grandparents vs found father
Is this matter in New York or Tennesee?
If it is in New York, you will have to go to family court and file a petition for custody of the child. The standard is best interest of the child. Your rights as the natural father would in most cases be superior to the grandparents.
