Grandparents right to visitation

I am a grandparent who lives in Brooklyn, New York. My son is incarcerated and his daughters' mother will not allow me to see my grandchild. Is there any remedy for me?

Re: Grandparents right to visitation

You are absolutely entitled to file a proceeding in family court for visitation. The court will decide if it is in the "best interests of the child" for you to see him/her. These petitions are not always granted, but you have an aboslute right to file one.

You can obtain the paperwork to start this proceeding at your local family court.
