grandparents visitation without parental consent

this morning my husband and myself had a big blow out with my son and daughterinlaw over my adopted daughter. my dauther in law does not like her and is constantly causing family problems. well this morning she threatened us with not seeing our granddaughters and she has done this before. can we petition the family court for grandparent visition ?

As long as you have a significant relationship w/ grandchildren you will have "standing" (the legal right) to bring a petition for visitation. Then it is up to the court to decide whether it is in the Best Interest of the children.

You will have the burden of proving to the court that you have been involved in g.kids lives (visiting/caring/nurturing/supporting/gifts/holidays, etc.) Photos of you with them are excellent.

Before you do this, make sure it is necessary as it will most likely alienate the parents further.
