Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Hosting a Gambling Night

I own a store and want to provide a place for people to play poker. i know of another place that does it but i dont know if its legal. Basically each person puts up $50, plus $30 for food and drinks. The Place keeps the $30 to pay for the food and drinks, and the money is split up between the 5 highest winners. the house makes nothing off of the gambling. just provides a place to do it, and make the money off of the food and drink. Is this Legal?

Re: Hosting a Gambling Night

It is illegal and if caught you will suffer severe repercussions, perhaps even the police being able to close down your store. So please do not engage in this activity. For more info you may call my office @718-834-0087.

Re: Hosting a Gambling Night

As legal as arranging for a room in a store for patrons to come and smoke crack without the owner profiting a cent, that is except to cover the cost of food and refreshments.

Should you like to discuss this or any other legal matter, you can call my office to schedule an appointment for a consultation or in the alternative, I can be reached for on-phone low-cost legal consultation at 1-800-275-5336 x0233699.

Gambling in your own home OR private club is illegal.

Playing poker, black jack, dominos, and any and all such and similiar games, for money, are ALL illegal; and carry criminal penalties.
