Legal Question in Family Law in New York

My husband abuses me and then asks for a divorce

Basically my husband is an alcoholic and a user. Now that he has depleted all of my funds and worked me to illness he wants to sell our home because he won't work and keep bare land. He is going to move and leave me homeless with the proceeds. We haven't been married long but I have about $20,000 into the home of personal money. What can I do?

I suggest that you consult in private with an attorney. If your husband is abusive, you can have him removed from the home.

Have you already filed for divorce? Are you currently living apart, pursuant to a separation agreement? Has he been physically abusive? Has he committed adultery?
