Ex wants new husband to adopt her daughter whom I have raised
My ex's daughter is now 8 years old. Although I am not her father, I was there when she was was born and I have raised her. She calls me Daddy and I refer to her as my daughter, but she is aware I am not her father. My ex and I have two other children together. We never married, and three years ago we parted. She has custody of all three children. She took up with another man who she married 2 years ago. I have remained active in her daughter's life. My ex has now filed for her daughter's stepfather to adopt her. I want to be heard on the matter so that the court is aware of my role in the girl's life but I have been told I have no legal right. There has to be some way to make the court aware of my involvement. I supported this child, claimed her on my taxes the first year she was with me, cared for her, and I still go to her school functions and meet with her teachers at conference time. As far as I am concerned she is my daughter and I need to protect my relationship with her. What can I do?

You have a very difficult case. You need to get an attorney who will help you "intervene" in the adoption proceedings.
