Legal Question in Family Law in New York

husband not babys father

I am trying to get a divorce in NY I want to do it on my own as I do not have much money. I have been seperated since 9/02 and have been with my boyfriend for almost 3 years. we had a child last august and I then tried to get a free divorce uncontested they wanted an order of affiliation. I would rather not go thru all that and just want to be divorced we all know who the father is I would rather save the costs of paternity testing ect. If I go at this alone what do I do. My husband is not the father I have not seen him since 2002 and I have 2 kids from him that he has nothing to do with as well. I just don't understand if all people agree is that good enough??? OH I live in New York State.

In order to get a proper paternity test you will need to go through the processes. I would see if you can get help from social services or one of the free legal services in an around Plattsburgh (I recognized the zip code). As for a divorce, you can use the uncontested divorce packet that is online at www.courts.state.ny.us under forms. If you wish to any further assistance you can contact me at [email protected] or 516/746/4747.
