Legal Question in Family Law in New York

My Husband and I have a case going in Family Court in New York and we want to go back for my Husband to get his custody back and we would like to know how to go about getting a different judge for the case. There are two family court judges and we are being told that there is no way that we can get another judge. We were told, and I quote," same case, same judge". Can we request another judge and if so how do we go about doing so?
