Legal Question in Family Law in New York

my husband is currently incarcerated he just got served with court papers from his sons mom regarding custody and support. I want to know haw can he stop an order to produce so he wont have to travel back down to the 5 boros without getting a warrant or something else all he is asking is for a prosponment until he gets home he just came back from court and spent 18 days in travel to and from the facility he is trying to avoid that or how can he give me power of attorney to go on his behalf she can have the custody and the support he does not wanna fight her?
