Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Ex husband refuses to follow motion

My ex husband will not cooperate with the court directives concerning support and his attorney is about to drop him as a client. How does the law view this behavior? Will I benefit from this or wait for him to find another attorney; this is his second one.

Re: Ex husband refuses to follow motion

Courts do not look kindly upon men who do not pay support AND can't keep an attorney. You should act immediately to force him to pay. The court will put a time limitation on his retaining a new attorney.

The longer you wait, the more money he is in arrears, and it becomes more difficult to collect.

You don't want him in jail, you just want the money he owes you.
