Legal Question in Family Law in New York

My husband just walked out the other day claims since he pays half the rent he is entitled to come and go as he pleases. The lease is up in March and the lease is in both our names. I don't think it's right that he just up and leaves while I am stuck with all the stresses of the situation. What can I do?

Generally, a spouse has a right of possession unless there is an issue of domestic violence. It seems that marriage has failed to the point that you may want to speak to an attorney about filing for divorce.
