Incarcerated/ divorce

A friend, who's husband is in jail, wants to file for divorce, with minimal or no cost.(as she has limited income) where does she go or call to find out more info.?

There is a minor child involved but, she has full custody, signed by him. She lives in catt. County, he is in jail in erie county.(new york)

Prison for 5 years constitutes grounds for divorce in New York.

I have handled these types of cases. However, since I am in Nassau County it would be problematic for you to retain this office.

I would suggest contacting your local county bar association.
