Legal Question in Family Law in New York

International divorce- My wife and I are getting divorced- she lives in NY and I live in UK. We are doing this through a NY divorce lawyer. I was sent the settlement agreement to get notarized- when getting this notarized through a notary public in UK, is an Apostille needed? I was told I can just use any notary public and nothing extra is needed, but just wanted to make sure.

The only way the NY court will accept your papers is if they are notarized at the US Embassy or Consulate. No UK notary, no exceptions. If anyone tells you anything different, they are mistaken.

Mr. Brodsky is correct. A UK Notary will not be accepted.
