How can I iobtain my childs ss number without going to court and filing for cust
I went to the Social Security office to get my childs ss number. At the office they told me in order to obtain my childs ss number they must notify his mother and ask permission. I do not undertsand why that is if i never went to court with my childs mother to obtain custody. However she told them not to give me the number and I dont have it. To make a long story short, I feel there's only trouble that lies ahead and i want to know how can I protect myself. Right now my childs mother is here illegally, but i feel she is plotting something against me. Which is she plans to file for custody after she allows her sister to file taxes for my son. What should I and can I do. Im a fulltime student in my last year so no I do not file taxes.

Apparently your name is not on your child's birth certificate. If it was, you would be entitled by law to obtain a copy of your child's SSN.
A custody or paternity order, is not the end of the process.

You are correct: this is a long road that you have set forth on.
1. You must examine the birth certificate to determine if you are listed as a biological parent. If not, you must file for 'paternity'. This is not difficult. I can help you.
2. You must prepare for the coming custody petition of the mother.
The way to prepare is to document the immigration status of the mother, document the work information of the mother, establish yourself as the primary caregiver.
The likely outcome is that the mother will get visitation and you will get custody. This is dependant on the mother not having a good reason why she is not currently in your child's life.
