Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Joint Physical Custody

I a father files a petition for Joint leagal custoday of his two kids, does he still have to pay child support if the childrens mother files for it.

At this present moment he is giving her $100 per week and she wants more. He pays rent and has phone bill expenses and college bills he is currently paying. His gross income is $1016 and his net is $516 because he is an apprentice and money is deducted from his gross for vacation pay and medical coverage.

Where does he stand in terms of filing joint physical custody and will he still pay child support.
