Legal Question in Family Law in New York

The judge never ordered or followed up on the appraisal of the marital residence in my divorce and I'm wondering what I should do. Is it the responsibility of the parties to work together to get an appraisal or should I file a request with the judge to order an appraisal? I mean, how exactly could a JHO or judge make decisions on the interest, equity, etc. of the marital residence if there hasn't been an appraisal?

In a perfect world, the parties would work together to obtain an appraisal. However, in this imperfect situation, you may want to do the appraisal yourself and ask for reimbursement. There is no guarantee that you will obtain the money back. However, it will speed things along. Otherwise, you will have to file a request for the appraisal and wait for the order.
