Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Kids and Domestic violence

I was in relationship where we would yell and throw things. We also had a domestic incident filed. I live in NYS. I have since moved out and have been out for over 8 months. But this person I was in a realtionship with is a friend still. I want to still remain friends and legally I wanted to know if this was ok. Since I have two children that were there when we would argue I don't want that to be held against me. I have gone to several classes to help with anger and a counselor for my self confidence etc. Is it ok to still be friends with this person ?Can I still bring my kids around since we have been getting along pretty well ? I have no plans to move back in I just still want to be able to go to the movies, playground with kids that kind of stuff.

Re: Kids and Domestic violence

Domestic violence always hurts children. Your friend and you have a bad track record. If anything were to happen, you could very well lose the kids. Less an anger management program where a professional signs off on it, make your kids the priority and keep them away from him.

Good Luck
