Kids staying alone

legally what would be an appropreate age to leave kids home alone?my kids are 13 , and 9 and i leave them a lone in the evening is that a good age?

ABSOLUTELY NOT!! Since the 13-year-old would be the oldest person present, that child does not have enough maturity or experience to handle an emergency, should one arise. A 16-year-old (or older) with the availability of an adult by telephone would be appropriate.

While this is your decision, I would recommend the children be older before I left them alone for extended periods, especially after dark.

Other cultures often judge differently. Some Asian cultures find it appropriate to leave a 6 year old in charge. But this is America, and your question was asked in the context of how we do things here.
