The law on child support is called the Uniform Child Support Standards Act. This law was passed by almost every state to make child support uniform across the United States. Florida is a state that has passed and enforces the CSSA. As for how long you have to pay it depends of several factors but to make it simple, you are required to pay until the child is 21 if not a full time student and 22 if they are. The only major exception is if the child becomes emancipated and the explanation for that would be bigger than this forum requires.
