Legal Question in Family Law in New York

What do I do when my lawyer won't return my phone calls? I am in the middle of getting a divorce (NY state) and he is supposed to be filing for a court date. That was almost six weeks ago. I have made repeated attempts to contact him and all I get is a voicemail. I have left message after message asking what the status is and I have not heard anything. Can I switch lawyers, and if so, will I have to start the process all over again with the new lawyer?

Can you be more specific? What do you mean by "filing for a court date"? Some steps take quite a long time. Exactly what stage is your case in?
