Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I am considering leaving my wife and seeking a separation leading to divorce. We do not own a home, but rent. I am wondering if I leave the marital home, how will this affect things going forward.

She probably will claim abandonment, but these day whoever has ground usually doesn't determine the financial aspects like child support or maintenance. There is no big risk to leave.
