what is the legal age for children to have contact if they want with the family that was placed for adoption.

You seem to be asking whether you can have contact with your child who was adopted. Or, are you asking if the child you adopted can have contact with his or her parent or parents. If you are asking the second question, as the adoptive parent that is your decision as a parent. If you are the birth parent, when contact takes place is up to the adopting parent or parents. If the child is an adult, it is up to the child.
