Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Legal Announcement of Adoption

I was told that in the late 1940s, if an unmarried girl was going to give up her child for adoption, that a legal notice would have to have been placed in the local newspaper in order to give the father a chance to object to it. If this is so, how can I go about finding what newspaper said legal notice would have been printed in?

Thank you.

Re: Legal Announcement of Adoption

Service, either personal or constructive is required on the other parent to inform them that their child is being adopted. Personal service is if you know the other parent's address. Constructive service is if you do not know the other parent's address. This is the notification in the legal paper. In Broward, Dade and Palm Beach Florida, the popular paper to use is the daily business review and some local papers. Call an local attorney in your area to check on the paper.
