Legal Question in Family Law in New York
What is the legal definition of guardian? If a grand-parent was awarded guardianship of a minor, are they considered the parent even though no parental rights have been given up? what kind of decisions can they make for the child?

A legally appointed guardian has almost all of the rights, with very few limitations, of the parent to act in the best interests of the child.
