Legal Question in Family Law in New York
Legal Guardianship vs Adoption
I am trying to understand the advantages of legal guardianship over full adoption for my my foster son. Are we less vunerable from a legal perspective should he do something for which parents can be sued? We are having trust issues with him so we are concerned about legal exposures. At the same time, we want to help him.

Re: Legal Guardianship vs Adoption
Guardianship is not necessarily permanent, while adoption is. However, the legal rights you have as guardian are very much the same as if you are the adoptive parent.
