Is it legal for a parent to take an item a way from their kid even If the kid bought and paid for the item and it doesn't use any resources the parent pays for

What is the item and why are you taking it away? How old is the "kid". If the child is under 18, lives in your home and buys a gun and you as his/her parent takes it away, I would advise you that it is not only legal, but wise. Your question is too vague for a more specific answer.
