Legal Question in Family Law in New York

legal responsibility for 19 yr old son

My 19 yr old son lives with me. He works full time and attends community college. He is shy one credit needed to keep him covered under my health coverage, he refuses to take any more credits so he will be dropped. In the event he needs medical treatment, will I be held legally/financially responsible? I can't afford to pay to continue his benefits, I am a single Mom, and am finding it hard to keep up with paying my mortgage and his tuition. I am frightened I could lose all I worked so hard to get if I am responsible. Is there any thing I could do to protect myself from this possible situation if I am responsible? Thank-you so much for your time

Re: legal responsibility for 19 yr old son

Only if you signed something accepting responsibility or admitting him to a facility (as we know you never get to read those forms, "SIGN IT OR WE WON'T HELP HIM!")
