Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I have a legal separation document that a lawyer prepared for me a year ago. I plan to go to court and file it, purchase an index number and then a note of issue. When this happens will I be issued divorce papers too or will my separation agreement become the divorce? Will I need my husband to sign anything else?

*I live in Queens, Ny if that's important in determining County and/or State laws

You'll need to file the same divorce paperwork as anyone else, except that because your separation agreement has not been filed for a year you'll need to also resolve the issue of nunc pro tunc filing.
