legal separation

My husband and I have been separated for several months evrything is in my name we are selling the house and devided the cars up. I have custody of our children. I'm in the process of buying a house so i typed up an agreement that ststed how much money he would get from the sale of the house and that any and all purchases from said date would belong soley to the purchaser.. We had the letter noterized, can I file this as our separation agreement? Would it be legal?

I would not be penny wise and pound foolish. Any agreement to be legally valid must meet certain criteria and oftentimes those drafted by layman can be wanting. A separation agreement, and the child support provisions in particular, requires specific terms. In the absence of the required terms, the agreement may be void.

I suggest you have the agreement reviewed by an attorney.
