Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Legal seperation

My wife and i filled out papers that are similar to another persons speration papers. Not all the professional words but pretty close. We had both seen lawyers previously and both of us know our rights, we put that in these papers. We had a notary sign them with us, then I payed to have them filed in the county with a time stamp. Are these papers reconized as a legal seperation by NY.

If they are not properly signed and acknowleged, then they will not be accepted.

Re: Legal seperation

Based soley on your statement, yes, you should be able to use these papers as a legal separation providing you live under the terms for one year. You may want to take the document to an attorney to review them to make sure. Reviewing them without any other work should only be a small fee.

You can contact me directly by phone or e-mail to consult on this matter.
