Legal Question in Family Law in New York

legality of a ULC marriage

A friend of mine is becoming ordained with the Universal Life Church so she can officiate my wedding. Is this legal? Will it be recognized by the state of NY? I want to make sure the marriage is completely legal.

Re: legality of a ULC marriage

If it's a bonafide religious group, and your friend is a bonafide clergymember, it would be recognized as legal in NY State.

Should you like to discuss this or any other legal matter, you can call my office to schedule an appointment for a consultation or in the alternative, I can be reached for on-phone low-cost legal consultation at 1-800-275-5336 x0233699.
