Legal Question in Family Law in New York

?

I do not know who legally has custody of my daughter. She is now almost 15, has lived with me practically her whole life. With the exception fo when she was 1 1/2 years old and I was young and not behaving properly. Her paternal grandparents supposedly got legal custody of her...not sure I remember ever signing over custody, I was only about 18 then. Anyhow, we mended fences and things were fine then but we never went to court to change things. Now she's older and giving me problems w/ school, grandparents are involved once more but now claming they have always had custody....please let me know how to check on this.

Thanks so much!

Re: ?

If you were married to the mother, it would be in the divorce decree.

If you were not married, you should go to the Family Court in whatever county you are in and ask them for assistance.

If the grandparents had obtained custody legally, you would have to have been notified.

If you would need further assistance, please feel free to contact me.
