Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Legally Divorced?

In january of this year i was served a notice of intention to divorce by my husband/ex husband. i had a lawyer answer and my lawyer never received and answer from the lawyer office name on summons, nor was my atty able to get attorney on phone, never receive any response. my question is can my ex secure a divorce without any further notice to me? i heard from a member member of his that he had remarried.

i need to know what is my status.

i thank you so much for any help you can give me in this matter.

by the way we have been separated since 1992 alto not legally.
