Legal Question in Family Law in New York
To lie or not to lie?
My ex-wife is suspicious that I hid money earned from her for child support. I have a court date coming up. I did hide money. I didn't tell her about severence pay I got from a job I was let go from. Should I be honest with the judge and say I couldn't possbily pay her at the time because I had medical expenses for a chronic condition I have (the truth) or should I say I didn't know I had to give her child support from severence pay (the judge would know that's a lie, don't you think?)

Re: To lie or not to lie?
If you received the money after the child support order was entered, then it is yours and need not be included.
If you are behind in your payments, then you are telling me the money is used up with medical bills.
You are ok. You do not have a problem.
Good luck.
