Legal Question in Family Law in New York
Life Insurance death benefit
I am planning on buying a life insurance policy and naming by husband as beneficary. If I die, would his ex-wife be able to sue him (and win) for any of the death benefit he would receive from this policy. They have one child in common. Thank you.

If he owes her money, yes. Otherwise, no.

This could depend on many factors, including, but not limited to, what the policy actually states, whether or not the ex-wife had a claim against him, and what, if any, private agreements existed by and between the parties during the pendency of the lawsuit.
