Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I live in NY. My divorce is signed and I'm just waiting for the final paperwork. I have primary custody of our son. My ex keeps saying he'll see me in court and his brother is attempting to serve me papers. What could it be and is there any way to find out before being served? Would he be able to sue me for custody before the divorce is final?

It's hard to tell, partly because saying your divorce is "signed" and you're "waiting for the final paperwork" doesn't explain the situation.

A properly drafted set of divorce papers includes custody, child support and all related issues.
